No power to cooling fan

No power to cooling fan
In attempting to fix my daughters' 04 Minis' A/C I found that the rad cooling fan is not working. Based on the assumption that the fan comes on as soon as the A/C is turned on, I found that there was no power to the fan. The compressor turns on and there is good pressure on the low pressure side of the A/C. I'm not sure what to do next. Any help would be great. Cheers, Dave

Bet $100 the PS cooling fan is stuck....this will blow a fuse they both share.(a 5 amp fuse...think it de-powers a relay needed to run the radiator fan).....rendering both the low and hi speed parts of the radiator fan inoperative..... Was rewired on 2005+ year cars....
If the hi speed fan DOES cycle on and off, then the resistor is burnt out....

IMO order a new PS fan...it is easy to swap out...
the PS PUMP is a $$$ item...and failure is pretty common, but it is covered by an extended warranty...but if the fan is disabled, the claim might be voided....so IMO spent the $140 or so on a new PS fan.

PS fan from ebay. Didn't let the sealant cure long enough so at pressure it squeezed it out, so heck with it-new rad. Cabin air filter was horrid. Fired it up and no cooling fan with A/C on. Engine temp fires low speed then high speed fan so I know it works. Maybe the PS fan also needs to be runnning for the low speed fan to come on with A/C? Dunno. At least it's running and the PS fan will soon be in. And the weather here is quite cool! I'll keep digging! Cheers, Dave. Thanks for all the help

Success! A/C charge was just under the pressure required. Must be tied into the permissive for the cooling fan. Good learning experience, if a little expensive. Car sits all winter (8 months) so I'll have to be more frequent with my starting up cycles. Thanks for all your help! Cheers, Dave
