Buzzing/Rattle noise under deceleration
I have this rattling/buzzing noise coming from the front only under deceleration. The buzzing is not audible under acceleration. There is no noise when revving the car at a standstill. However, the noise can be heard when the car is moving at parking lot speeds (10km/h or less) and revving (clutch in or neutral).
I have gone to the dealer and they said the noise is coming from the HPFP and it is "normal". I havent heard other N18s with this noise.
Can anyone guess what it is? I hope to have it fixed as it is quite annoying.
Here are a couple of clips that captures the noise:

I have the same exact noise coming from the front as well...2013 fJCW btw. It's driven me nuts since the day I got the car but I've more or less learned to live with it as I got tired of taking it to the dealer. The first time they said it was normal until we drove another JCW which didn't make the noise. They ended up holding the car for two weeks and replacing the turbo citing it was a rattling waste-gate but that didn't really solve the issue. Strangely enough after the last oil change it isn't as noticeable as it was prior. I get the feeling its some sort of loose heat shield or exhaust part. I usually notice it most in sport mode while decelerating and the tach drops around 2500 RPM.

mine just started doing this. it doesn't do it when its cold, only does it when warmed up and if I go above 3500 rpm's. It continues to do it until the rpms drop to about 2000 rpm's. Did the dealer tell you its going to cause any issues and needs to be replaced (if it is the hpfp) or fixed if something else? I'm going to remove all the heat shields and re-install them to see if that has any effect after i have it looked at on Wednesday.

Hmmm, that's unfortunate. My closest dealer is a four hour drive. Looks like I get to enjoy another thing about driving this car. It's weird, I'm constantly on the fence about owning another MINI but I'm also always looking for a first gen park in the garage with it. I've been looking for more of a project car lately and keep ending up looking at MINI's. Anyway, thanks for letting know.
