Cps and death rattle

Good day folks, wife and I just became 1st time Mini R53 owners. 2003 R53 with 118k on it, now bought from reputable dealer and had clean carfax, drove great but took it Sunday for a service call run for work and upon returning home had ses and dsc on, got codes pulled and had both P0340 and 341 but NO loss in power, searched here and found that cps is mostly likely to blame, so got ready to order sensor this week however tonight (sunday), returned home from dinner at inlaws and had a slight tick that went up and down with motor speed, shutdown car and waited, restarted and no more tick....started my research on here and found timing chain tensioner may have been stuck and then put both issues together...sorry for long post but here is question, should I change both sensor and tensioner or just tensioner and see if that puts cps back in line?

Thanks in advance!

Update...

After resetting ECU last night and letting car sit overnight. No lights this morning and drove fine to work 17 miles, did put 93 Octane in the tank so I wonder if the dealership skimped on octane rating.

And there back after run at 70 mph for a slight extended run on the interstate. Yet again no loss in power and both ses and dsc on. Crawling under their this weekend and looking at the wires and checking fuses but why would it clear then come back unless after car gets warm something is expanding to cause wires to pinch or short.
