Problem with passenger easy access lever

Problem with passenger easy access lever
My passenger seat won't slide forward when using the easy access lever (the one on the outside of the seat). This makes getting in, and especially out of, the back seat somewhat frustrating.
I can slide the seat forward and backward using the adjuster under the seat; so I have a workaround by pushing the easy access lever and pulling the under seat adjuster. This extra step is overlooked by most of my front seat passengers - leaving the back seat passenger trapped (at least until I, sightly embarrassed, walk around the car and liberate them).
I don't have the far more common problem of the stuck seat back (oft referenced on NAM), and I can't see anything obviously wrong with the seat or the seat rails.
So, any thoughts on what the problem might be and how to fix it?
Or does anyone know how the easy access lever engages the seat rail release?

Thanks for the replies and link.
Having now read four separate forum threads about this cable breaking and possible methods of repair, I went out to my car only to find that my cable seems to be intact.
I can't see a break; and when I pull on the back end of the cable, I can feel tension and see the cable moving (from under the seat). In fact, it feels like it's tugging on a spring of some sort.
The only thing I can't see is where the cable is attached underneath the seat - so I can't be sure the cable is whole. But based on tension, and my inability to pull it out the back, I don't think my cable is broken.
Perhaps the cable attached to the wrong part - or maybe the cable is bent and stretched out such that it can't pull enough.
I can't see a way to work on this further with the seat in place, so I may have to remove it when I have more time.
