halogen headlight disassembly.. cleaning foggy lens

So, my recently purchased 2003 mcs has a foggy passenger side lens and i want to attempt to clean the inside of the lens. I buffed the outside really well but noticed that a lot of the yellowing is on the inside. Theres also a small spiderweb built inside the headlight! !!
Anyhow, i came across a thread a lil bit ago that said you can put the assembly in the oven to heat it up and it comes apart like a charm. Does anyone know how to do this or can direct me to a thread that can help?? Greatly appreciated.

The pre-face lift headlights do not disassemble as easy as those on the 05/06 models....due to potential of damaging the lenses during removal....most folks don't attempt it unless a back up headlight is available.

Wasnt quite sure what people meant by "facelift headlights"? Mine lift with the hood. I thought they were the facelift headlights?? Anyhow, does this mean that i should plan on buying a spare? Also, how do i know which are xenon or not? Mine look like the take a conventional bulb. Just purchased the car as a daily driver so the jeep doesnt rack up the miles and burn through gas. Excuse me for my newbie inquires:/

Wow that sucks, I just wrote a huge thing helping you and it rejected it...

Anyways! This is the comparison of halogen and xenon housing.
http://www.mini2.com/forum/first-gen...on-lights.html

Xenons have the word XENON under the low beam, next to the high beam near the outer edge of the headlight ring. They also have a headlight washer cut out on the inner side of the headlight ring. Xenon lights are a much brighter white-blue light and they go down then back up when you start the car up, this is the auto-leveling feature. Halogen lights are a yellow-white and dont have any fancy lettering or auto-leveling.

If you have halogen lights I would say forget the MINI OEM halogen lights from prefacelift (02-04) or facelift (05-06) and just go for some nicer aftermarket ones.

Prefacelift(left) VS Facelift (Right)

Continuation:

What my Recommendation is :

1. Chrome Ring/Chrome Housing
http://www.ecstuning.com/Mini-2003-C...ing/ES2762291/

2. Chrome Ring/Black Housing
http://www.ecstuning.com/Mini-2003-C...ing/ES2763070/

3. Black Ring/Black Housing
http://www.ecstuning.com/Mini-2003-C...ing/ES2724053/

with

4. New Phillips Xtreme H7 Bulbs
Amazon.com: Philips H7 12972XVS2 X-Treme Vision Replacement Bulb, (Pack of 2): Automotive Amazon.com: Philips H7 12972XVS2 X-Treme Vision Replacement Bulb, (Pack of 2): Automotive

Any of these will work for your car. They will make it look newer and sleeker and they will perform much better than your old headlights. You can easily install them yourself and most likely you will need to level and adjust them after they are installed. I also suggest getting some new bulbs unless you have purchased new ones or the prior owner has replaced them. They will light up the night and make a difference.

The aftermarket lights are DEPO brand, a reputable and one of the best aftermarket headlight companies. I have DEPO projectors on my 2001 Chevrolet Silverado and they are a night and day difference from the old blotches I used to have from the factory fluted lenses.

Hope I was of help, any questions, let me know!
Have a good day,
Max
