Inside of Intercooler

O I'm going to DIY my thermostat and FPR this weekend. I just pulled off my intercooler and its a bronzing color on the inside and smells like fuel. The smaller port is the dirty side and the horn leading to it is also dirty as hell. I am new to superchargers and intercooler a but this doesn't seem like it would be normal. Where is it from? What do I do? Is it even a problem? Lastly how if at all should I clean the intercooler? Thanks in advance for the advice everyone!

Just make sure it is 100% dry before you reinstall it...
On a side not, the pcv condensate, which is slightly oilly, I would bet, lubes the vanes on the sc...
Folks have tested "cleaning" the ic, using catch cans, etc over the years...about zero impact...but you will feel better!!
If you have excessive gunk...maybe a prior owner neglected oil changes or used non syenthic oil...who knows...but I would not worry, beyond knowing it should be fine in warmer weather...short trips can cause excess gas to buildup in the oil in cold weather....

Yea, just give a good clean and inspect the fins, watch bending them back from rock chips , bends.

The inside accumulates a film of oil on it, it comes from the PCV system, it's normal. Whenever I have the intercooler removed I spray it out with carb or brake cleaner.
