Cruise control question

Cruise control question
while I'm at it I might as well ask about my cruise. I'm hoping this is just noob error but my cruise doesn't seem to work. I press the on off button and the light in the tach turns on, but the car doesn't hold speed. So I then pressed the button that looks like a speedo with an arrow, car still doesn't hold speed. Do you need to press and hold the speedo looking button? I can press the plus button and the car accelerates so I know cruise is kind of working. Just seems to not be setting. This is on a 05 mcs

no owner's manual huh?
there are 4 buttons on the right side of the steering wheel according to the manual for an 06 ....
I/O is the on off button. press this first to turn speed control ON, then again to turn OFF
to set speed (which should be over 30 mph) press +, the car should now hold speed. Press + again and speed increases
press - while speed control is engaged to decrease speed .... (a 'tap' of + or - should change speed approx 1 mph ...)
the button that look like a speedometer is RESUME .... if the system has stayed ON, but was disengaged, pressing RESUME will restore speed control to the last set speed.
Cruise control is disengaged by using the brake or clutch, speed is remembered unless system is turned off or ignition is turned off
