High pressure fuel pump

Just for a little clarification I changed all the spark plugs all of the coil packs did a carbon cleaning. It was running rough right on startup that have to give it some gas it would run fine after sitting for a bit it would run bad it would run rough at stoplights give it a little gas and its fine. Does this sound like the high pressure fuel pump to you?

It does sound like hpfp. Any CEL? or codes?
FYI last week i was trying to help a friend to buy one and we were seeing very very expensive prices for hpfp´s, i even contacted ecs tuning because their prices were like $1,000+ and they told me that is factory that set the prices for genuine parts. I looked almost every single web page and the lowest prices were $800

Check with the dealer, but they warranty is for a specific VIN range. I just replaced mine yesterday and it fixed the problems I was having. Now it starts right up without any coughing, sputtering or hesitation. No strong exhaust oder anymore. I bought my HPFP from Mini Mania here in California. I paid $336.00 for it in December but I just checked the website and now it shows it at $1128.00. Not sure what's up with that...... Super easy to replace. It took me less than twenty minutes. Good luck....

Looks like a major price increase from MINI, these were high in price, then they dropped down in price, then shot way up. This is over the course of the last two years. We currently don't have any aftermarket solutions.
DIY is here for info and what to look for with issues.

They went up so much last week as BMW bumped up pricing on a lot of items. We have one here (click and should highlight in green) that is still listed at a lower price. Might want to jump on it while it's still low. We also have a DIY that can help you with the replacement.

Welcome, make sure if not something else , check all plugs , coils , rear pump. Lines and electrical. Then go to the HPFP. That way you can pin point it before you have to spend money. Our link above has all the HPFP info to DIY and save.

Looks like you have it pretty narrowed down, Coil, plugs and then carbon blast, check the wires also in the engine bay, then HPFP. That would be my order.

Timing chain:
Also certain years fall under replacement, if it has not been done,
https://www.northamericanmotoring.co...00-mini-s.html
You would either have the timing chain noise ( death rattle ) or have a shop or dealership measure the slack in the chain.

Get the timing chain checked asap as well as checking your oil asap. Oil very low can cause that rattle noise also.

The timing chain guides wear or break. This creates a dangerous situation. The timing chain guides do just that, guide the timing chain so there is little to no slack in the chain. If the chain is allowed to move as the result of a broken timing chain guide there is a chance the chain could jump and throw engine timing off. If this happens valves could contact the pistons and engine damage could result. The guides wear from lack of lubrication and running low on engine oil (be sure to check your oil). This can cause timing chain rattle at start up, noise when running and worse-case scenario a jumped timing engine. This noise is known as the "death rattle." We have a DIY that has a lot of information as well as a replacement guide.
