Stock Problems/IssuesDiscussions related to warranty related issues and repairs, or other problems with the OEM parts and software for MINI Cooper (R50), Cabrio (R52), and Cooper S (R53) MINIs.
Nevermind. Figured out it was a grounding cable which somehow disconnected. Next question, what's the black hollow tubing that is also connected to the fuel filler line? Could it trip a p0455 code if it is torn or ripped?
Yep, ground wire. Definitely make sure that is installed back in nice and snug. That black tube is I believe the fuel tank filler pipe assembly HERE, #10 below. The attached hosing below it is the fuel hose HERE, #11 below. I can see this tripping an evap code if torn.
The black plastic conduit is covering the vapor return hose/line to the fuel tank. A cut of the conduit isn't a problem, (it's only there to protect the line), but a leak or cut in that return line will throw a CEL (same one as for loose gas cap). Sorry, I don't know the codes.
P0455 is for a large evap leak detection, which if there was an ungrounded circuit could be reason for that code. The system will never be able to pull vacuum as it is an open electrical circuit without ground, fix the exposed wire, affix the ground, clear the codes and see what returns. If you do in fact have a large evap leak you will need to further diagnose the problem.
Usual suspects are gas caps, cracked charcoal canisters (road debris), dirt packed in vacuum line connections at the DMTL/ charcoal canister.
