wont shift, wont start

So my cooper s has issues shifting when its on. I assumed the clutch was not engaging. However, I believe its the throw out bearing as the issue their. However, I have it parked for awhile. I normally start it once in awhile out of gear. Last time I tried, it didn't even attempt to turn over. Well I recharged the battery, thinking it was that. Still has the issue, electrical stuff all comes up. Any ideas? I was told it may be the starter. Is their a way to test it or check?

When a failing or bad battery in you MINI is present all sorts of weird electrical gremlins will happen. How old is it and when is the last time you replaced it? It could be, depending on how old it is, unable to hold a charge well. What did the battery test at after charged? Did you try to jump start it? Some good info in this thread HERE.
