R53 taredown Suggestions needed!!!

Hey guys,

First post so bare with me. Im in So Cal and have followed NAM since I first got my '03 R53 with 100K miles. Simply a fun car to drive!! But of course, all good things come to a halt when you break something lol. So it has come down to replacing my clutch in my R53. I will be starting the whole tare down this weekend .... hopefully. I was seeking some advice as to what to look for or replace since I will practically have the whole engine bay torn to pieces. So far since I've own my mini in the past year, I have replaced or done the following:

-replaced the pulley with a 16%
-serviced the Trans and Engine oil
-flushed the brake fluid
-added a drop in filter (it was the cheapest option than a CAI at the time)
-Upgraded Front brakes with the drilled and slotted rotors from R1concepts
(back ones will get done when the pads need replacing)

So now comes the following fun stuff. I plan on replacing/upgrading the following on this tare down:

-Stage 1 Clutch kit
-Rear main seal
-Trans service (using Redline MTL)
-Supercharger Oil service
-New supercharger gaskets
-Replace Water Pump and o-ring for water Pump flange (or should I just replace the flange too??)
-Flush Coolant from radiator
-MDS Coil pack with MSD cables
-Flush Power Steering fluid (using CHF 11s)
-Replace cracked strut mounts and fix mushrooming
-Replace Motor mounts
.........

Yeah I think that's it for now. Well, that's all I've ordered at least. Am I missing anything else? Any suggestions on anything you guys think I should replace now before it becomes a headache later on? Any Performance mods that I can drop in that I don't have? Any input is very much appreciated. Thank you guys!!

I would add control arm bushings and the ball joints to the list if they haven't been done already.

Thanks RB!! I will definite take a gander at them. From what I saw after the first oil service, the previous owner didn't take care of it much. So I'm guessing the bushing and ball joints need to go too. I will add them to the list. Thank you!!

Hello Lopez! Have you checked out our clutch super kits HERE? They include everything you'll want to replace while doing a clutch job and have access to certain areas of your MINI. Great rotor choice. I run R1 Concepts slotted/vented rotors front/rear. I agree with the bushing suggestion and would recommend Powerflex bushings HERE. I'd also check over all other components on the car before you tear into it so that you can be sure you have all the parts needed while it's apart.

Pelican, I will definitely look at the power flex bushings. As for the clutch kit, I already ordered almost all of that individually (should have looked at you stuff a little better lol).

As for the could pack, I've back & forth about stock vs aftermarket. I hear lots of good things about the MSD set up. Since my OEM has the usual rust over the third post, & a good amount of miles on it, I figured I'd give the MSD kit a try. But thank you for the input!!

They make bushings for a lot of items for your vehicle. If you get confused about any of them or what you need please do not hesitate to give me a shout. If it hasn't been well taken care of, I'd maybe add a fuel filter replacement to the list as well. http://www.pelicanparts.com/catalog/..._pg1.htm#item0
