Airbag and Seatbelt Light Still On After Seat Sensor Replaced

2005 MCS, bought new, now over 100K mostly trouble-free miles, still a great car, never in a crash. About 5+ years ago the Airbag and Seatbelt lights came on, and without a dealer in the state I just ignored it. Dealer came to Little Rock about 1 year ago so I took it in. They worked on it all day and could not figure it out. I thought it was the seat sensor, but this was before the recall so I wasn't going to pay for them to guess.

Yesterday, the seat sensor was replaced under the recall. No luck. Both lights remain on.

Now they suggest a $1000 repair to include a "crash module" and "programming".

I would be happy enough just to unplug or disable the lights, if that were possible. Any ideas? If I could get to it, I might be happy with black tape over the lights!

Any help appreciated with fixing it right, or a creative workaround.

You could scan it with our tool to see what fault locations are coming up, but they should have scanned it at the dealership and seen the same codes, since its a new MINI dealership they might not be familiar with them like the newer MINIs. If you have a fault and you get into a wreak the airbags my not deploy.

I would like to see the faults, you could scan it with our tool and see what comes up. or take it to another MINI dealership thats older and see what they think after the scan.

Important to get the code, well worth what I did, bought reputable scanner, and realized I had 3 fault code, it was the airbag module and the left and right seat belt tensioner.. bought used airbag module at ebay for $60.00 (2002) all the number serial/ parts all matched, plugged it in and wow what a relief... the code clear, no reprograming etc...
