Good source for Turbo Replacement Parts
I'm looking for a good source to replace the OEM turbo on my wife's 2010 Clubman S.
We took it to a dealer and a mini repair shop, and both seem to want to take us for a ride, to the tune of $4200 for the turbo alone (just the part, labor was another $1k). Now I did quick digging and found I can get it much cheaper.
Now I'm a gear head. I work on all my other cars (04' silverado, 335k miles, 11 VW Routan, and 65 Mustang convertible) and have the tools to do it. I generally shy away from touching my wife's car, but when the repair costs cam e in at $7500 (or what the car is worth) I'll dig into it myself. I've done turbo replacements in the past on my old Volvo's. Now those were a pain since the turbo was behind the engine.
So, I'm looking for a good replacement kit for this job. I didn't know if there were good sponsors, or good vendors people preferred for this for me to get the parts from.
I'm also researching upgrade options...you know, the while I'm here kind of mentality. Granted, that thinking put my 65 mustang on a 2 year upgrade path as I went from a stockish build, to a EFI 400HP, limited slip, 5 speed, disc brake, rack and pinion steering with subframe connecter build. Now I don't think my wife will grant me that much time to do this but any ideas would be welcome.
Many thanks in advance.
Regards,

We have the BorgWarner OEM turbo charger HERE for much less than what the dealership quoted you for the turbo alone. You'll also want this gasket HERE and this seal HERE. Do you have a Bentley Manual? We do have an R56 turbocharger replacement article on our site under MINI > tech info (tab at top) > R56 articles > very last article at the bottom of the page. It might be helpful.

You can buy the turbo from Way Motor Works or ECS Tuning. It probably around $1200 for a genuine OEM Borg-Warner turbo.
The swap is a simple bolt on affair and can be done in a day and only typical tools needed.
I'd suggest to replace the oil feed line with the one from Detroit Tuned for about $75. Also I'd suggest replacing the exhaust manifold gasket (since you remove the turbo and exhaust manifold as a unit), replace the downpipe gaskets on either end. Get new crush washers for the coolant lines and new turbo studs and nuts.
All told if doing this yourself you should be under $1500 with shipping. Maybe less depending on the cost of the turbo.

I've had good luck with www.fcpeuro.com prices are good, and lifetime warranty. On everything, even filters etc.

We keep stock turbos on the shelf as we replace them in the shop all the time. We also have all the gaskets, nuts, and bolts if you want them.
