Belt Tensioner Failing. How much time do I have?
Hi, the rear bushing on my belt tensioner fell out last night and it is making the rattle noise. the parts will be in on friday. How long do you guys think I have before it totally dies? I need the car for my daily commute until then. Do you guys think it will be ok until then or should I try to get a ride?
Thanks.
Thanks.

Don't rev it hard....drive it like a Granny....
If you thrash it...the belt will likely jump....this will cost you a crank damper too in many cases when the tensioner slams into it, taking a chunk out of it.
Some might park it...but seems if you are smart enough to pay attention to it, figure out the bad part, you might get to Friday if you are gentile....not saying a 200 mile a day commute, but if you shift early, you might be ok....
If you see the belt showing signs of distress....all bets are off...if it starts to look bad...stop....and toss a new one on...only about a 15-30 minute job if you are careful.
