As above, I have an 02 R5, with the CVT automatic transmisison.

I need to replace the drivers side half axle, which should be in first part of next week, but in the mean time I have a question.

I got the car last week, and aside from the axle noise, everything seems to work fine except this:

The transmission shifts and drives normally in PRND mode, however, when I push the stick over to M/S mode, it will stop shifting (even if I press +/-) and dump to EP mode. If I pull the stick back over to D, in a few moments, the display goes back to "D" and everything works fine - If I dont pull it over fast enough, I will get a check engine light. I checked the code, but, honestly, I forget what it was exactly - Something about PRNDL Sensor?

Any ideas?
