It's kind of hard to see from this picture, but I read another post you made a couple of days ago about your car cranking but not starting. Were you working on your car? did you take the throttle body off? from the symptoms you described and your picture I kinda think the throttle body isn't plugged in. I'd check that and also charge your battery.

Give your battery a full charge then have it load tested (most any parts store can test it). I've had this problem before lights worked but it would not crank. Battery was shot, fired right up after I replaced it.

I think the wire it too small for a starter application. the started need one big red cable and another one wire for the signal to start. does the started work at all? did you check wires going to the started or/and grounds to engine?

Check and make sure you don't have any loose grounds. Also, check the connectors on your battery to make sure they're not loose and that they aren't in poor condition. A loose ground or poor connection can cause a not start issue. And of course, definitely check the voltage of your battery to confirm it is not bad. All sorts of weird things can happen with a dying or bad battery in these MINI's. If you need help with testing we have some info at the link below. I'd also possibly plug into your OBDII and see if any codes are present.

+1 for the ground connections, especially the big one on the upper passenger side engine compartment. If that one is loose or dirty, the engine will not start.

First question; what work did you do prior to the no start issue?

That connector is for the reverse switch on the trans.

Then you need a new mechanic! That's absurd! Do you just have the one key? If you have the other, will it start the car?
