Oil Pan drain stripped

I have inherited a 2007 S convertible with 118000 miles. I went to change the oil and have realized that the oil pan threads are stripped at the end. Are there any suggestions as to how to fix this, without replacing the oil pan?

2007 'vert is a GEN1

you can simply tap the opening to the next larger size and get a plug at a parts store for that size

OR better yet

get a fumoto valve so you'll never have the problem again ... it is kinda common on the GEN1 cars due to the funky drain plug with a built in plastic seal that has a tendency to stick ......

if you search oil drain in the GEN1 section you'll find MANY threads on the topic ....

Capt_bj is correct tap it up to the next size if you can.

If that doesn't work for you we have some used oil pans I could sell you, or new ones if you don't want to go used.

There are dozens of youtube videos about how to make this repair

using "self tapping plugs" "expanding plugs" and retaping the pan .....
