SRS Airbag Fault Code, 55
Hello all,
I just got a 2006 R50, love it and having fun. But the SRS light is on, so I read through the forum and bought a C310 scan reader to work on this problem.
The code it is throwing out is "55 Emergency Call Function". I can reset it but it comes right back. The book that came with the C310 and the B800 do not show what that means, actually does not even show that code in the list.
I have look at other forums too and only found one line about it and it was unknown what it meant.
So, the question is.......... What does it mean?
Thanks all,
ken

Find a quality scan tool that reads manufacturer codes.
Being a 2006 it could be the passenger seat mat sensor. Call your dealer to see if the warranty work has been performed.

Firstly, welcome to NAM Ken. You can also take the vehicle into a MINI indy shop and have them pull the code for you as they should have the equipment needed to read what the fault is. The reason it keeps coming back after you reset it is because there is an issue that needs to be resolved first. Once you get the fault it should point you in the right direction as far as what will need to be replaced/repaired.

Thank you for the welcome PelicanParts........... I just got a big box you sent with my parts... THANKS
I learned from this forum about the fault light staying on if the fault is still there. I have cleaned the connectors and cleaned the code and reset to check to see if my cleaning fixed the fault code.

For the first gen MINI it is known for the mat sensor to fail. I'm not familiar with the fault you're getting and it may be that your scanner is unable to read faults in that module. You could see if you could borrow a friends scanner or have it scanned somewhere else to confirm and maybe point you in the right direction to diagnose the issue. Some info in this NAM thread here: https://www.northamericanmotoring.co...ult-codes.html. Also, as mentioned, might not be a bad idea to give your local dealer a call and check on recall info.
