PO171 issue
Hello everyone! So I'm having issues with my 2002 Mini S. As stated in the title I'm getting the PO171 code. Just a little back history. Just three weeks ago the fuel pump went out on the vehicle so I went ahead and replaced the pump and filter. The car ran great for about two days before it started having the same issues I was running into before. I figured it was a dud pump. I had been letting the vehicle sit as to not damage anything, but I had to run a few errands, seeing as it started I took the car out. Well while out on the errand the service engine light popped on. On the way home I popped by my local autozone and got them to give me the code. Long story short I took the car out one more time and while idling it just shut off on me and won't start again. I ripped the fuel pump out and had it exchanged on the off chance it was a dud. I replaced it yesterday and the car still wont start. I'm no mechanic but I do like to save a buck if possible. Just hoping I could get pointed in the right direction. I've got friends to help me out, but they don't have time to work through a full diagnostic on the vehicle. Please MINI friends point me in the direction of my issue!! Thank you to everyone in advanced.

ECU says the engine is running lean. Check out the below thread, go to the 8th message by Cadenza.

For the P0171 it could be an air leak, fuel problem (seeing as you just dealt with the fuel system) or exhaust leak before the primary O2 sensor.
If the car isn't starting now that you've worked on the fuel system I would start there.
Do you hear the fuel pump prime when you turn the key on?
Did you get the fuel pick ups connected properly?
Did you properly seat the O-rings in the fuel filter housing? If they aren't seated properly you won't get proper fuel pressure to the fuel rail, and thus a car that doesn't run.
