Hard Cold Starts ... Think my HPFP is going out??

The past few mornings I am getting some hard starts. Starts and shuts off... Starts and shuts off.. Starts and pops then sputters then runs perfectly. First thing I thought was maybe something came loose. However after checking I am starting to think my HPFP is going out. The only CEL I have is for my downpipe. I read where the pump will throw a code but I have not seen anything. For those who got Mini to cover it did you have to let it get super bad before bringing it in? I hope they will cover it under warranty if thats the case. Although its my beater car I love driving the thing everywhere!

typical HPFP symptoms. My car was doing the exact same thing and I just had the HPFP replaced under warranty. It throws a code sometimes, but it can come and go, mine didn't have a code and the dealer still took care of the pump for me.

Seems to be a fuel issue and (in the S models) 99,9% is related with HPFP problems...

Could be a dirty fuel filter. Fix the cheap stuff first

Check the fuel filter first, main fuel pump then go to the HPFP, just to be sure.
