CV Rebuild Question

Hey guys! I just realized while redoing my headliner last night that I have an old (and very wobbly) set of OEM axles sitting in my garage. I'm thinking of refurbishing them (new boots, rollers, needle bearings, and yoke, the whole shebang).

Where can I source these parts? And besides the aforementioned stuff, is there any part of the metal housing that wears down?

Thanks in advance!

Only time will tell! If I figure out how to do this, I'll make sure to document the process so others can DIY axle refurbs for themselves, too!

the question to ask yourself is whether one you have rebuilt yourself is better than a reman from the auto store you can get for maybe $75.

Boot replacement kits are readily available. I get mine at ECSTuning.

If the bearings are gone, get a new axle. A cheapy is fine for the street. Otherwise get one from a MINI performance shop, like SneedSpeed.

Arguably, yes. If I can find the manufacturer of the OEM roller, needle bearings, and yoke, I can turn scrap OEM axles into OEM-quality rebuilt ones. These axles are just sitting, and I have no need to replace my current ones at the moment. However, if I could learn how to remanufacture OEM axles myself, that's a huge money-saving service to the community right there.

bump! anyone ever had to source manufacturing parts before? How do I even start discovering who to call/email? I just need the first step in the process, I'll do all the remaining research.
