2006 mini S wife backing out of drive and steering got heavy engine start running very rough then stalled. Engine just clicked upon trying to restart but would no later I got it to jump start but issues continued . New battery and fired right up no fault codes thrown under scan do. No idea what is up car has been perfect for 140000 miles now this

The power steering pump is electrical but as the pump was slowing down and the car was running rough I am wondering if your belt is slipping. When did you change the belt or replace the tensioner last?

 

Sounds like you have a voltage problem like and alternator or p/s pump. But need to do some diagnosis to be sure.
