Smoke and Stank in Commute this AM plus misfiring cyl

Hey guys first time poster-
I drive a 2003 Mini Cooper 1.6L 4Cyl 5speed Manual.

drove about 30 minutes to work before an issue at an intersection. light turned green and while in 1st gear my car would hardly crawl to start and RPMs climbed up to 6k. hazard lights and got off the road to open the bonnet (hood) and found dark smoke to the right of my motor and left of my battery- did eventually stop smoking with engine shut off but it STUNK like burning rubber. No fluids seem to have leaked at all.

Fluids are all in check and all parts I could see seemed okay- started it back up with no smoke and drove fine with no issues like high RPM or slow motion.

recently did a new ignition coil and spark plugs and wires for a code signaling misfires in cylinders 2 and 4. the codes are still showing misfires and now have an odor present since last ride.

Any ideas?? thanks for your time and best wishes
-Oliver

Will move this to the Stock Problems/Issues area.

What was the car doing when you got up to 6,000 RPMs, moving fast or moving not at all? What are the codes you are getting?

Car was was stopped at red light and at normal idle.
Light went green- applied gas attempting to speed up to 10mph from 0mph but did not make it to 10mph while car RPM reached 6,000. Moving hardly not more than 10mph- I coasted off the road.

after checking out the engine and starting again it drove normally in all 5 gears.

will have to get back to you on specific code! My brother was running his obdii scanner and read to me misfires in cylinders 2 and 4. He originally saw those codes prior to spark plugs, wires and ignition coil being replaced and they are still apparent.

Would think with the manual that if you the engine was reving 6k and you were not moving then the clutch was slipping.
