2004 R53 loud grinding/screeching front right wheel

What's going on everyone,

I have a 2004 r53 and I was driving about 30mph and a pop from my front left wheel well came followed by a loud screeching/grinding noise. I pulled over and checked it out and didn't notice anything out of the ordinary. Wear sensor was attached properly and pads are at about half life and weren't locked. Popped it into reverse and went back a few feet and took off and everything was normal.

I am wondering if anyone has experienced something like this and if it may be indicative of future failure of a part.

Thanks!

That was one of my initial thoughts but I didn't think it would correct itself if it was. Aren't wheel bearing usually more of a rattle than a screech?

RF Axle ? Usually there are some warning signs before an wheel bearing goes....they start to howl and get louder with rotational speed....

No, they screech. The fact that you backed up and re-aligned the pins in the bearing which quieted them down doesn't mean they are not bad. Jack the car up and roll the tires and see if you feel or hear the problem. I've ignored that problem once or twice only to see my tire/wheel rolling ahead of me on the highway.......
