Can You ID this???

I was wiring up my car yesterday with audio for a MINI run and discovered this cover sitting in the well where the top of the shock is attached (under the bonnet). The dealer must have taken this off and forgotten to put it back during the last servicing. Just wondering if anyone knows where it goes so I can put it back!

It's got a "+" on it so is it the cover for the Positive terminal for the battery?

I think you have an MC and the battery has a total cover.

My MCS has a square black plastic cover for the positive battery terminal but it isn't like your picture.

Nice!!!! thanks!! I knew you'd come through.

So much for giving high marks to Nick Alexander for thoroughness. I've got other gripes as well, but geesh.

It resides on the side of the stock airbox

I think I know why they didn't put the cover back. It appears one of the securing tabs was broken. Maybe they were going to replace it and forgot. Not sure. But I also discovered that the battery box cover had a tab that was partially broken as well. In fact, when I tried to release the tabs, the cover came off along with one of the push in clips.

I sure hope they will replace this under warranty. I guess I shouldn't have tried to put it back myself, cause now I'll probably get blamed for it.

I think you will be covered under warranty.

Just tell them you found that piece and don't know where it came from and you noticed the other tab was broken. Ask them to replace them since you didn't have those problems before servicing.

Thanks! I'll give them a call tomorrow. I had 2 other warranty items that were supposed to be replaced--they said they had to order it--but I guess the Service department is too busy to follow up.
