Check Engine light after Oil Change

Mini Cooper S 2011
5W-30 Royal Purple Oil
Wix Filter

I performed an oil change today, and after completion, after turning the car on, the check engine light (Amber) is now on. I also noticed the engine fan stays on for about 5 minutes after turning the car off (even if the car has been on for less than a minute). I ran a scan of the computer and got P173B. So I'm thinking that when moving the coolant reservior around, I may have tripped the sensor or something.

I've made an appointment with Mini for Tuesday just to get it checked (expecting them to upcharge the hell out of me, too).

Anyway, I just wanted to get some opinions on what may have happened. The car had no problems beforehand.

Very Respectfully,

Simple check is to look at the connector for the coolant sensor.

P173B is the coolant temp, so maybe you did disturb the connection? Hope it's a simple fix.

I just went to drive the car around the block and also noticed a high pitch whine when I press the gas. I'm thinking that I may have screwed up a seal somewhere and it's now leaking.

Edit: no leaks to be found.

As far as you can tell, did the engine actually overheat?

Not that I can tell. The car seems to run fine, though I started it up this morning and now the engine fan no longer runs after the car shuts off. I don't know if that's a good thing or a bad thing.
