Code 1627 and no power steering

Can anyone please help me diagnose code 1627, no power steering and battery light illuminated. I just replaced my battery due to not starting. Reset all the code after installation of new battery and then this code appears.
Thank you in advance.
First symptoms when hard to steer and ittermittently has power then no power steering, engine lights on and ABS also on. The next day i tried to start the car no juice, check battery voltage only 9.4 so i decided to buy new battery, installed the new battery clear all the codes yesterday and this morning this code appears 1627 and no power steering. ( dealer replaced the power steering pump last year based on the recall)

I think 1627 is the Alternator Load Sensor.

Going to move you to the Gen1 Stock Problems/Issues area.

The power steering pump has a 100 amp fuse that is under the engine bay fuse box. At that amperage, would not take long for the new battery to drop in voltage and I would think the pump would stop working.

Where is the alternator load sensor located? Is it built-in to the alternator?
Thank you for the response, much appreciated.

I already dropped the alternator, i can see the battery is not charging by measuring the voltages at the battery... It started at 12.4v now its 11.4 and not charging.

Below is a thread on 1647. I am thinking the voltage regulator is behind the alternator, another item you should check.

Voltage regulator is built in inside the alternator..yes that'correct. So this is it then. I need to replaced the alternator. I also need to check the 100 amps fuse for the power steering pump to ensure its not blown.
I appreciate all the help.

I am thinking the regulator is not inside the alternator nor part of it, it is a separate component. Do a search and you will see it listed.

Update: Checked the 100 Amps...no blown fuse!

The voltage regulator on the Mini is a unit that is attached to the back of the alternator. Even though it's is a separate unit, it doesn't mean that is what's causing the problem. Could be the brushes, could be the stator, could be the diodes. If it were me, I'd replace the whole unit. The alternator is not charging, I would take it to get it checked and then go from there.

Thanks for the info..
O'railley benched-test the Alternator today and failed the 2 test, luckily they have Remanufacture on stock, installed, reset all the code, restart the car...bammmmmm start right up, power steering good, all the codes cleared.... Save me bunch of money by not taking it to the dealership.
Again thank you for all the help.
