Temp sensor vs Themostat
I have a 2011 Clubman NON -S. The yellow engine light came on , I noticed the coolant tank is low but have not noticed any leakage in my garage. If it possible its the temperature sensor or the thermostat. Car has 86,000 miles on it. Also, when you buy the whole thermostat housing does it come with a new temperature sensor.
Thanks
Thanks

Yes, the thermostat and sensor is included " pre installed" into the plastic housing. You will either see a small puddle on top of the transmission due to a warped or cracked housing, a leak at the rear coolant pipe above the oil pan on the rear of the block or an overflow bottle with a faulty cap or leak at the clipped on hose fitting on the bottom.
The pumps themselves can leak on the pass side. However in my experience, the coolant bottle is target #1, because it gets manipulated and moved overtime you change the oil.
A coolant pressure test is the fastest way towards resolution. But if its a car your going to keep - you may choose to go after these repairs proactively and give yourself some piece of mind before winter.
New coolant and make sure they bleed the system properly and that you have good heat inside the cabin after.
