Ac/heating NOT WORKING

So I have an 05 Cooper s that I just acquired this week that needs several things worked out. My priorities are the ac/heat unit. The console and controls do not work. The display does not power on when prompted to. The corresponding controls also do not work. By work I mean none of the usual lights power on when the ignition is turned. I checked some fuses but confused on how many fuses deal with the unit. Such as which ones control the fans, lights, controls amd so on to try and figure out the issue. If anybody has some insight I would greatly appreciate it WINTER IS COMING here in Michigan.

Does the car have a sunroof? If so check the drains to see if the drains have fallen off and caused BCM damage.

If that checks out I would assume you lack power to the unit or the unit is faulty, not many other causes for failure.

Yes it has a sun roof. Not sure what you mean by drains or bcm damage. Sorry completely new to the mini world.

The front sunroof drain were notorious for falling off and draining water into the passenger/driver floorboards and damaging the body control module and wiring.

You'll have to pull the head liner down a bit to see if the drains are still attached to the sunroof, if they are then I would make sure they're draining like they should be. To check for any BCM water damage the passenger kick panel will have to come of so you can access the BCM.

I know you're a new owner in Michigan, where are you located? We are in Clawson at Maple and Crooks, we can help you a bit more in depth if we took a look at the car.

Give us a call if you'd like to setup an appointment.

Thanks for the in depth response. I'll have to check this weekend even though I'm no handyman. I'm located here in Grand Rapids Michigan. Can I get some info about your shop?

Detroittuned.com

We are a full service shop as well as an online retailer of all things MINI.

Grand Rapids is a couple hour ride from us, but we've got customers doing the same if not double or triple the time to come see us.

Feel free to give us a call and we can get you scheduled for a visit.
