R50 clutch switch bypass

Hi guys. Just picked up a 2002 base with a missing5 spd trans and no history. Been sitting a couple of years. 180K and am wondering about checking the engine before I go to the trouble of installing a trans. Can I hotwire the starter to avoid the clutch switch issue, jump the fuel pump relay and get it to run? Or does the ecu pick up some kind of needed signal through the clutch switch and starter circuit that allows it to start? TIA, Ron.

If you have a starter switch, (which can be bought from Snap On or the equivalent) you could try that, make sure the starter is fastened to the engine before you go trying to crank it.
