Window not working, but hear motor

Hello

My wifes r53 p/s window will not go up or down. I can hear the motor whining etc, but no window movement.

I have read through posts and hit the door etc, I've pulled the door panel off and tried to gently tug on things, but not sure whats going on.

I can manually move the window by grabbing it and moving it up and down, but I don't really know what to do at this point. It doesn't "look" like anything is off track/not connected etc.

any suggestions?

Frank

Had the same issue on my first Mini a 2006. Had to replace motor and gear assembly as it was stripped.

I appreciate it. Is it possible the gear assembly be stripped and the motor still good, or these go hand in hand etc.

thank you in advance!

I usually buy my parts at outmotoring.com, waymotorworks, or rockauto.com. It says if you hear a click and not sound, then the motor is out; if you hear the motor, but no movement, then the regulator is out.

Does that sound right to you Tigger?

In my case the plastic gear sheared so the motor would spin but nothing would happen. Was actually a good thing since I was able to pull it up by hand.
