Hood/Hatch warning light stays on

2005 Mini Cooper S
Hood/Hatch warning light stays on.
I'm trying to sort out which end may be at fault.
If the hatch switch were failing would the interior light stay on?
Where is the switch for the hatch?

Going to move you to the Stock Problems/Issues area.

In the FAQ section, the first thread will include a section on how to look up parts. Item 0014 has a link to Realoem that has templates on all the different portions of the car.

Figured out the problem, thought I'd share should anyone else run into this.
Turned out to be the hood sensor switch, appears to be shorted.
I unplugged the cable, light went off.
Needs a new switch.

Yes, I took it out, checked it with an ohm meter. Odd, I expected the switch to fail open. This one appears to be stuck closed, little change when I press the plunger. For now I'm just leaving it unplugged.
