Outside temp question

Does anyone know why my scanner shows outside temp that is different from what’s displayed on my dash?

Right after this is checked the dash with the car still running and it said 80f. I did another scan immediately after with the car still running to compare intake and ambient. it showed 127f for outside air and 120f for intake air temp.

I noticed this this while doing diagnosis for idle issues. I thought this sensor only reported to the gague cluster but now I’m wondering if the outside temp sensor has any output
to the ECU?

any input is appreciated!

check the sensor. it might be clipped or a mouse nibbled on it.

Ive checked the sensor and the wiring and everything looks ok. The dash reading is always correct but for some reason my scanner is showing outside temp that is significantly higher. I’m wondering if maybe the ecu uses temp info from the maf as an outside temp source?

What PID is your scanner reading for "out temp"?

Thats what I’m trying to figure out. I can’t get any other info other than “out temp” and I’m not sure where it’s coming from.

if you disconnect the ambient temp, what does it read?
