N14 valve cover replacement

Does the new n14 valve cover w the new pvc design actually eliminate/reduce the oil consumption? I have a 2007 and which is running well, but consumes oil (no leaks) . I'm doing some other maintenance on the car and trying to decide if this is worth the extra expense.

Ah, the oil consumption issue. Based on my experience, oil consumption dropped after I replaced the cover on my n14. However, for the past few months I have been adding quite a bit each week. After running a few tests, the piston rings are bad and there is too much crankcase pressure. My advice, check compression and do a leak down test first and see what the results are.

How many miles on your valve cover?

I'm no expert on this, but I believe that the PCV system getting weak could affect oil consumption. In any case, I've proactively replaced my valve covers when they get 60,000 miles on them (on my turbo cars) and I haven't had serious oil consumption issues. (Knock on wood!)

We see these all the time failed. Usually you see oil on top of the valve cover, but if you have high oil consumptin it's very possible the PCV system in the cover is failed and allowing the engine to suck in oil. The cover is pretty easy to replace as it is right on top.
