Any way to re-adapt CVT at home?

Been stuck in "high gear" sice fluid linked down and I refilled. Took it to German specialists shop, and the couldn't do anything with their Bimmer tool. Asked for trouble codes and they gave me codes that are not Bimmer or Mini codes. Nearest Mini tranny shop is a LONG way.Any way to reset tranny myslef?

Adaptation reset requires a special tool to clear the adaptations, and a certain procedure to adapt the trans, you can't just reset them and drive. The trans has a process to go through to reset the adaptations.

I took it to the local Euro shop that is reputed to be good. The hooked the Bimmer machine to it and couldn't get the job done. Then they gave me some codes that aren't even Mini codes. $175 for nothing! I know a dealer will just say trade it, so I need to know what independent shop can do it within a couple hundred miles of Florence, AL

To reset the adaptations, you need INPA and an OBD cable to first clear the current adaptations. If you search "BMW INPA" you'll find a lot of threads and posts on it. The software can be found for free, but the setup is pretty involved.

Alternately, I've used this cable/software with pretty good success for coding work, which is much easier to setup with the one-click installer:

After that, the car must be driven a specific way to reset the values - here is how to do it:

What were the codes they gave you?
