A/C Issue

Hey guys, first post and wasn't sure of a proper title for it but lets get into it.

I have a 2003 Mini Cooper S and about 2 days ago I went to go defrost my car and the fan's wouldn't turn on and there wasn't any air being blown anywhere. I thought it might be one of the fuses so I looked at the fuse cluster underneath the dashboard and pulled out the F29 fuse which I believe is just for the ac and swapped it with the spare fuse but it didn't do anything so I went ahead and swapped them back around, opened the hood and was going to check the fuse box in the engine bay but couldn't get the box open so I decided to scrap that idea. I started my car just to see if maybe it was a one time thing and low and behold my fans turned on but there was also a loud almost sounded like a clanging/banging(barely but only thing to describe) sound that lasted for about 3-5 seconds and then steadied out.

So does anyone know if it's my blower motor going bad or something else? I can try to clarify my issue if need be I'm just not really sure how to describe it.

Thanks in advance!

Sounds like some critters may have gotten in there. Pull out your cabin filter and check for debris. Pull out the blower motor and replace it.

I assume you mean the cabin blower fan here. It is the symptom the fan bushing (not bearing most of the time) lubricant is dried and/or the bushing or shaft have worn. The noise is they vibrate because of lack of lubricant or just worn. The symptom will return.

This is why I always shunt auto climate control. I only use my fan when needed, and set to the lowest speed needed for the condition, to prolong its longevity.

Lots of information here, like 85,000 threads on the Gen1 along with some good vendors that have their own repair shops and some good Gen1 members.
