Gas gauge reads inverse yep BACKWARDS
I have a newly bought 2008 cooper S clubman with Navigation dash . and if you fill it up it shows it shows as empty in the tank and warns you to get more gas!!
As you motor along drive it slowly goes up to full till you run out of gas 300 miles later.
I opened the left side port up to see if the float on the fuel pump side was moving freely, or if the plug to the filter side was maybe plugged in upside down or something crazy.... but it wasn't...
im going to attemt to put the car into test mode like this when my wife gets home from work ( test 6.0 and 6.1 6.2 )
and see if the tanks read the same amount of fuel on both sides and read the OHMs from both senders I believe they are the 2 outside set of wires on the plug that goes into the fuel pump.Center ones being the power to the pump.
Can anyone Help me understand what could be going on besides just throwing expensive parts at the car. Stuck senders. always empty. always full crazy sure. but backwards and smooth. i got no idea!!!!!!!

I know that the voltage on the fuel guage / floats reads the opposite way on R53 and R56. Ie on one 0V is full, on the other empty, can't remember which way round. Maybe at some stage someone has replaced the floats with R53? See if you can visualise the part number on the float. Also could try reading the voltage

I will try to read the part numbers.. if they have swapped to R53 floats. Could it be as simple as i swap wires to get them reversed.

Well i did get into some research into my problem.
test 06.00 shows 8.1 in left tank ( fuel pump tank ) and .08 in right tank )
left tank shows 9 L code 1 ( test 06.01 ) code 1
tank OHM L reads 220.4 right reads 286.0
The Main Discovery I have to thank robbo mcs for giving me the heads up to look for the fuel pumps are both for the R56 Hatchbacks (example autozone pump A2C53378276Z ) it does not list compatible with my 2008 Clubman S.
Next question is there a simple way 2 senders in the mini work correctly for us ?
oh and i thought i would put my pictures sideways because its how this makes me feel!
