When I turn the car off it is at 223. Even though it is off it goes up to about 228. All of this is happening with the key out. The axle must be seated all of the way. It is not leaking. I plugged everything into that vacuum tank. I marked every hose. Cant really see much of it with the engine installed. Will a dealer be able to read the limp mode code? I have read some posts and this thing is like chasing a ghost.

At this time the car is 95% back together. Since rebuild I have 800 miles on it. The mini is still in limp mode. There is no sign of any degradation the car works perfect. I took it to a Mini specialist any they did pull a code although there is no check engine light on. The code is 2885 Boost-pressure control deviation. When I had the engine out I did replace the cut-off valve on the turbo with a Pierburg. The original was leaking oil. Any idea's about this code?

From personal experience and reading lotsa posts, 2885 is related to waste gate operation. I suggest you check the waste gate linkage and ensure a tight seal / smooth operation of the waste gate. Any idea how much boost you can build before it goes to limp mode?

I don't understand your "cut-off valve on the turbo". Are you referring to the "by-pass valve"? Maybe post a pic? If so, are you sure "Pierburg" is a legitimate replacement? The name doesn't sound familiar, and improper operation could cause your 2885 code.
