Coolant Expansion Reservoir

Hi All,

I need to replace the above as it's leaking, anything else I should do at the same time?

Vehicle is an '04 with 168,000 miles on it. I became the owner a few weeks ago and am slowly going over the car.

Thanks

Maybe replace the spark plugs and wires?
Replacing the coolant expansion reservoir is only a 5 minute job at most.

At those miles the things that come to mind are; coolant, brake fluid (includes the clutch slave cylinder if a stick), transfer case oil (if stick), crank sensor o-ring, water pump. t-stat/housing, crank pulley, drive belt, belt tensioner, the two power steering hoses you see attached to the reservoir, the lower dogbone motor mount and the upper passenger side motor mount.

Not saying they will all need to be, but depending on the past owner(s) maintenance they may need to be.

Should I go for the Coolant Kit from ECS?

Not all of those things are there...but a bunch are.

We never install the plastic tanks when we replace as they always fail, even the new ones seem to only last 6 months now. So only use an aluminum tank.

This is one we use

or this one

You can do a plastic tank, i have seen the second one last and still working. When they get some years and age on them they can get those separations on the back side. I have seen original one little over 3-4 years. The Forge ones are a big upgrade and you will pretty up the engine bay and never have to change it again. You also do the canton racing.
