Hello everyone. I just got answer from mechanic. They said that cylinder 3 has low compression. It would be a couple $$$$ to open and inspect it.

Wha is the best suggestions for me to do it?

in order to make an informed decision, you have to know the numbers and which cyl. you dont want to pay money specially close to 1k for inspection and then be forced to either pay to repair, another 2k or buy another engine for 3k +

ask them all the questions until you're satisfied. ask them to open the valve cover and see what is going on.

Just talked with the owner of the shop. He said cylinder 3 has 50 compression. they don’t know exactly till they open the head. And he told me that could be something dropped down into spark plugs hole and damage valve, piston or rings.

They can also put a scope through the spark plug hole; no need to pull the head quite yet.

That would be your call.
If it seems to run ok you could probably make it over there since the damage is already done. If it’s limping like a dog and you don’t happen to have a trailer I’d call the shop to see if they know someone close.

You could sign up for AAA for about a hundred bucks and get a tow when your membership kicks in. With AAA you get four tows a year for the cost of a membership.

Take the intake manifold off and walnut blast the valves. the only way to clean the valves is to mechanically clean them. Some have done it with chemical carbon removers, like seafoam, but they also had to use a wire brush and a dental pick to get the carbon off the valves.

Can I do it by myself? Or use brake cleaner or throttle body cleaner to clean it?
