What exactly does a burning clutch smell like?

If you think you smell it in the cockpit,get out ,and smell your way around the car,stick your nose under the bonnet.It will smell like metal burning,hard to describe,but once you smell it you will not forget it.Go to your favorite mechanic,or dealer,and get them to have a whiff.

 

It smells like a roasted fish that was sitting in the sun too long.

 

This is a smell that is not good, you'll be able to tell when you smell it.

 

why do you ask? but you can tell, it's not tires, it's not burning metal, it smells weird.

should only occur under heavy driving, or if your riding the clutch. Best thing is to not have your foot on the clutch pedal unless your shifting.
