2005 r53 auto not shifting right

my car shifts all the way to 3rd fine then it’s like it shifts into 4th but nothing is there it just revs with nothing and speed drops out.... I need help!

It could be that the solution in this YouTube video will help. Hard to be sure, of course. But this fix is very simple compared to other remedies.

It’s only great if it works... otherwise, it’s a big waste of time, eh? :-

If OP has an R53, then he doesn't have a CVT. His issue sounds like the rotated sleeve in the tranny. It's fixable, but the tranny will have to come out.

There is a large thread call "aisin transmission failed at 80K" that goes into the biggest issues. One is the valve body and two is the rotated sleeve. You can match your symptoms to the likely cause. I think you should look at a tranny shop with MINI or VW experience with the O9G transmission and/or look for a used or rebuild. Unfortunately it's like 12 labour hours to RR a MINI tranny so you are into it for $1500 before the cost of new tranny or fix.
