Window fogging!!!
OK. The title basically tells you what this is about, but I have a bad window fogging problem. It just started to get into the 50's and 40's here (Houston area blah!), and I need to use my heater sometimes. This is the first winter with my MCS so this is new to me. The problem is I cant keep my heat on for more than a couple seconds or I will basically go blind. Is there some trick, or button that couteracts this? Ive had to switch the A/C on towards the windows to get ride of it, and thats not fun in the morning. PLEASE HELP ME!

Check this out-

clean the inside windows well and
run the AC with the defroster.
If you can open the windows a bit to let fresh air in and moisture filled air out that might also help but not if it gets too cold to drive that way.

Do you have your recirculation on? If I accidentally leave my MINI's air circulation set on "recirc", the windows will eventually fog up even without the heat on--the car's seals are that tight. Once the fogging starts, it goes total very quickly. This is especially true if I have a passenger and we're in the midst of a heated conversation!

I bet it's a cleaning issue!
Any residue on the inside of the screen causes extra fogging, so clean well to avoid the problem.
For best results, use a decent glass cleaner and a microfiber cloth.
I'd suggest Autoglym Glass Polish
It's better than anything else out there!
Chris.

>clean the inside windows well
Very true. I use an ammonia-D based windex foam since I don't have
window tint.
When I use heat, I don't need to use the AC unless it is raining outside.
I turn the HVAC in the non-recirculation mode and that's that.
A few weeks ago I was in my other car and my car fogged up real
badly...I tried everything, AC, defroster, the non-recirculation,
etc....nothing worked.
Then I noticed that the fogging was on the outside of the window.
Looked at my climate control's temp and it was set at 60F. hahaha.
Brought it up to 70F and everything was good from there.

My MC clears the windows of fog and ice faster than any car I have owned.
Even at -alot temps,I can start the car,get out and sweep off the snow, not scrap the ice,and by the time I work around the car the windows are clearing, the rear defroster has done it's job,and a squirt of heated window washer clears the windshield.
