Ac recharge

Quick question,I have a 2010 Mini s, the ac isn’t cold and want to recharge the system. It looks like there are two ac hoses , the drivers side and passenger side . I hooked up the recharge can to the passenger side hose and didn’t appear to do anything . The hose on the drivers side is larger and doesn’t fit the recharge can. Is the low pressure hose the passenger side ? Am I missing something ? Tips / comments ? Thanks Tom

sounds like you would be better off going to have this done someplace that does a/c servicing .....

btw, if you overcharge the system, it won't work either ....

How detailed of a description would you like on troubleshooting of your ac problem?
I have links to a few good information sources that would be of benefit instead of just adding a can of refrigerant. There are a few causes of the system failing that can be made worse by adding more refrigerant.

Good advice above. If me, I'd take it somewhere that does AC service. To properly add refrigerant, they first check for leaks then do a vacuum on the system to add the refrigerant.

most good garages will have a 'system check' for not too many $$

They will check operation and for leaks. IME if all you need is some 'gas' they will just charge for what you need and MINI don't take much ....

Unless this check turns up a major issue there is no need to take it to the dealer or a MINI specialist. IF something major is found ... MAYBE.

I get check on my home system every year and it runs about $100. It pays in the long run. My home system works fine while many of my neighbors have already replaced their home systems altho the homes were all built at the same time 10 years ago. I've replaced a small part or two and keep the gas up to specs. By the time a car is 4 years old a similar check is a good idea esp'ly where I live as the system gets used all year round.
