Help! Supercharger issue

Hello, so just recently I had a strange experience with my r53. I was leaving work, started my car up and I hear my supercharger whine up like a beefed up cat. It has never done this. It is bone stock except for an intake and the supercharger has never been that loud. Its like it had a 16% smaller pulley but it doesnt. And every time i rev it, it gets stupid loud. Even at 2k rpms you can hear it clear as day. Should i be worried about this or not?

Sounds like you may be low on oil in the supercharger?

There is no easy way to 'add' oil to the supercharger without removing the supercharger from the engine, in which event you are better off draining the oil, inspecting the gears for damage, then if the gears are OK adding the proper amount.

thats a whole lot of work. I would be taking this thing apart right now, the only thing stopping me is that its my daily. While im in there, do you think i should buy a supercharger rebuild package and a new water pump?

Thinking it takes special tools and some learned skills to rebuild a supercharger. Also think I have seen one single thread on a guy doing it himself from scratch. Would like to hear what either Way Motors or Detroit Tuned has to say on the matter as both are vendors here that also have full repair/maintenance shops.

Below is a video from ModMini on changing the oil. He also has numerous other videos on DIY Gen1 items.
