media blaster: walnut Blaster

So few weeks ago

I was bumming around on the internet

And I ran across the guy

https://www.bavauto.com/bmw-media-blaster-b1100008
Ended up getting one

Have not use it yet

Next week project

Pretty good price 275 shipped

Comes with the n14 / n18 intake adapter

25 pounds of crushed walnuts

Basically everything you need to Walnut blast them dirty valves

You still need an air compressor and a Shop-Vac and basic hand tools

But little things right !!!

Going through the blasting procedure now, but not with this unit.

Hopefully the wand is bendable if you want to use this on your mini. The N54 engine faces the side where you can use the long wand.

Good luck, just be sure your valves are completely closed.

walnut is so old school

the new thing is dry ice blasting (not really all that new)

advantage is no worry about nasty media residue going bad places!

Dry ice-blasting is a form of carbon dioxide cleaning, where dry ice, the solid form of carbon dioxide, is accelerated in a pressurized air stream and directed at a surface in order to clean it.

The method is similar to other forms of abrasive blasting such as sand blasting, plastic bead blasting, or sodablasting substituted for dry ice as the blasting medium. Dry-ice blasting leaves no chemical residue as dry ice sublimates at room temperature.

Nice sounds interesting , however I really don’t think walnut blasting is all the difficult , Honestly I think somebody with minimum mechanic knowledge could do it ,

We use dry ice blasting at work. I wouldnt want to use it on valves
