Please help! Mini cooper 05 coolant leak

I have a 2005 minicooper, we had a really had a bad flood meanwhile i was at work last week and the whole parking lot got flooded and i went trough a big puddle the car started smoking up and also it was hard to accelerate until i got on the highway . on my way home a triangle warning sign turned on and the car kept jerking i turned off the car on the highway and when i turned it back on the light was gone and started running normal . Yesterday on my way home that same light came on i did not pay much attention getting on the highway just about a mile away i heard a big boom and my car starting blinking all the warnings signs and i tried getting on the emergency right lane but when i started turning the wheel the car stopped accelerating i stopped to my nearest left lane and turned off the car. i then tried to turn the car back on but the engine was not going just the radio so i know its not my battery. i had to get my car towed and the towing guy noticed that the coolant was leaking alot. im not sure what it is but if anyone can help me with the pricing of what my car might need or what happened please reply urgently!

It sounds like you sucked a lot of water when you went into that puddle, and since you kept driving, you did some internal damage. Then the engine probably tore itself apart and you sent a piston rod through the block resulting in the coolant leaking out of the engine. Which locked it up, and resulted it not turning over.

You should take it to a mechanic to know for sure.

1) 2005 is a Gen1 so moving you to the right forum section. (Was in Gen2)
2) I think PariDot is right. Translation: you need a new engine, which will cost more than the car is worth unless you can find a used engine and do the work yourself. Even then it will still probably be more than the car is worth.

You need to get it to a shop for proper diagnostics, far too many variables here to get even a rough idea of what happened.

Yes, if anything from my post should indicate that you need to investigate and find out why its leaking and why its not cranking.
