A/C Module not lighting up and fan on blast
So I have a 45 min commute to work on the highway and a couple of weeks ago I'm heading there and am entering the highway on a ramp and the climate control module just all of a sudden turns of all readouts and lights. At the same time the fan speed goes to full blast and it gets hot like the vent setting on my 78 C-10. so i pull over and check it out and nothing seems to be wrong with the console other than the climate control. the windows are fine and the radio is fine. I pull the a/c fuse to stop the fan and just ride it out with the windows and sunroof open and just suck it up. So I look on the line to see if there's something I can do and it seems that some people have stated that replacing the whole module fixes the problem and so I placed an order for a new one. So I'm out tonight taking the dash apart to replace the module for the new one and I get the connectors placed in the back and try it out to see if that fixes it and it hasn't fixed anything. The fuse that I took out BTW was 29 in the fuse box in the foot well. If you fine people will help me I would be most grateful.

Update: It took me a couple of months but I finally got to a shop that specializes in MINI/BMW in Winston and the tech explains to me that there is signal going to the thermocontrol but the actual thermocontrol is not communicating with the rest of the car. He then tells me that it could be a faulty thermocontrol even though I got a new one and it didn't resolve the problem ( I understand that the one I got could have been faulty) Since I have a 06 that is in perfect electrical working order I can test the thermocontrol out of that one in the 04 and see it thats the problem. If nothing is resolved then I was advised on checking out two more faulty locations that could be "bringing it down" in his words. These two places are the Aux plug in on the factory radio and the body control module. ( my Aux jack is mounted in the toggle switches under the thermocontrol) So last night I'm tearing the two MINI's apart to get the thermocontrol out and test it in the other car. The thermocontrol in an 06 is not the same in a 04 BTW the guides on the connector are offset and are not compatible (also one is blue and one is white). I decide to go act as if nothing is wrong with the controller and I unplug the square connector in the back of the stock radio and turn the key and presto we are back to having A/C. I plugged the AUX cable back into and every thing still worked so I'm not sure why the controller is acting like a fault point but ill see how long it lasts and replace the head unit if it continues to create a problem.
