My driver's side window moves down a little bit when you pull the handle to open the door, and moves back up to fit snug when the door is shut. The passenger side window doesn't move at all. It seems to fit fine, but doesn't move at all during opening or closing. Can other owners confirm this? Any ideas why the two doors behave differently?

Take it back to the dealer and ask them to look at it. It's my understanding that both should do it...... I could be wrong. From what I understand it's an auto window sealing feature. I've heard of only one case where this wasn't working. However that was both windows. The story I heard about was preproduction and BMW said that it would be fixed before production. You may have picked up a very early production car.....
I'd be interested to hear how this works out. Please keep us updated with any news you get.

Several cars have been reported with these kinds of problems on MINI2.

The window should rdrop and rise to seal. If it doesn't, take it back.

The window is suppose to function the way you discribe the drivers door window is, you might want them to look at the passenger door window.

All BMW's are imfamous for having faulty window drive motors. Once the motor heats up or starts to corrode it stops working. German BMW dealership will only pound on the inside of the door to fix the problem ... unless you want them to replace the faulty motor and thats expensive. On my 2003 mini i remove the door panel and tap on the drive motor a bit and that gets it working again for another six months or so.
