Air vent control not working properly
Reaching out to get some guidance. I have a 09 Cooper base convertible with a cabin air distribution issue. Specifically, all the air goes to the floor regardless of the controller setting. If I rotate back and forth, it will send some air to the dash and vents and then goes back to sending most of the air to the floor….with the 102F weather, cold feet are not a solution.
I sourced a replacement controller from a base R56 and installed and it works fine directing the air to the vents and dash, however; it doesn’t have certain switches or the heated seats. So I proceeded with disassembling and switching the boards, but unsurprisingly the replacement doesn’t “see” the switches. I presume I am dealing with a firmware issue...Is there a way to reprogram the controller or am I stuck with having to source a new one from Mini (and probably have to get programmed).

im not sure if NCS expert can be used to enable the functions. I have yet to try it on my countryman after fitting heated seats and replacing the controller.

I think you are dealing with a hardware issue. Cannot imagine canbus/ECU has anything to do with HVAC system. The replacement board won't see the switches for definite. Me, I would be searching Ebay or whatever you use locally for another unit/board to match the original with all the relevant switches.
